We are starting to plan our 2010 October beach wedding and the colors Iam thinking about using are black, white with accents of blue. I know that because its our wedding we can do it our way, but Im concerned with how the overall look will be. Ive never seen a beach wedding using the color black. What Im asking is - is this a good color scheme for a beach wedding?

I actually know someone who used those exact same colors for a beach wedding in FL. The groom wore a white linen shirt and khaki shorts, and the other guys wore a bright blue linen shirt with khaki shorts. The girls wore black cocktail/tea length dresses. It looked really pretty!

I always wanted a black and white wedding... but we're planning a beach wedding for July... I opted out of the black and decided on a deep teal instead. It still gives the overall elegant feel of a black and white wedding, but more in tune with the surroundings...

But in all honesty... it's your wedding. Who cares what anyone else thinks!

I have seen it and it looks great. Use the black as a damask so it won't be so overpowering.

I would stick with white and kaki and your blue as the accent color, it's more refreshing and beachy. But I don't think that the black would look bad, I just don't think it will look as good.

Hi there...I am actually using black and white for my 4/2009 beach wedding (with some accents of Tiffany blue) and had the same questions as you at first. But, after talking to florists, and taking some pictures of myself wearing black at sunset on the beach, I actually got pretty sold on the idea as the black actually looked pretty nice (I was pleasantly surprised!!!). The only things I would mention are: that you might want to consider the formality of your wedding as black can sometimes give a more formal feeling, and that you might want to try and go with a less formal dress in black (i.e. a cute strapless sundress type thing to make the style of the dress more beachy). If you are still having questions, my advice would be to take some pictures of yourself wearing black on the beach, as that will show you what it will look like. Plus...your girls will love you for it as they really will get to wear the dress again!!!
